It is very overwhelming to navigate the produce section of the supermarket. You are encouraged to “eat clean” but are concerned that that does not coincide with your grocery budget.
More often than not people either overspend on produce because they fear they have to buy all organic or they chose all conventional because they feel they can’t afford organic. Fear not, you can split your cost by simply following the Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen.
Dirty Dozen ~ It is recommended to buy organic due to level of pesticides and chemicals found through routine testing
- Domestic Blueberries
- Sweet Bell Peppers
- Spinach, Kale and Collard Greens
- Imported Grapes
Clean Fifteen ~ Often bear little or no trace of pesticides through testing dur to their protective outer skin and are often safe to buy conventional.
- Sweet Corn
- Sweet Peas
- Kiwi Fruit
- Sweet Potatoes
- Sweet Onions
